Cars of the 1900's through 1920's

Our diecast cars of this era encapsulate the time from just after the turn of the century  to the stock market crash of 1929.

The era from roughly 1905 to 1914 and the beginning of World War I is considered the Brass Era due to the use of brass widely found in cars of this era. During this era the majority of sales of cars would gradually shift from hobbyist and enthusiast to the average user. Many developments were established during this era. Some of which were the electric ignition, independent suspension and four wheel brakes. The bodies of theses cars from this era were still widely open but that would be changing as we entered into the next evolutionary era of the automobile.

The era following World War I to the stock market crash is considered the Vintage Car Era. During this time the bodies of cars were becoming more closed and front end engines were also becoming the norm. The enhancement of the internal combustion engines  accelerated in this time period.  Multi-valve and overhead cam engines were coming into there own and the V8, V12 and even V16 engines were being used in high end cars.

You can see in our diecast cars the changing of cars between the Brass Era and the Vintage Car Era. These diecast model cars capture the beauty of these early cars that helped get the automotive field rolling.

Cars of the 1930's

In spite of the great depression the innovation of the automobile moved forward. Our diecast model cars of this period, known by many as the Classic Car era, shows cars that are becoming completely enclosed. Fenders, headlights and running boards were now being more integrated with the body of the car.  By the 1930's most of the mechanical technology that is present in the cars of today had been invented. You can see in our diecast cars the changing body style of the earlier 30's cars as they evolve throughout the decade.

Many innovative cars came from this period, perhaps none as revolutionary as the Cord 810 series. With it's bold design of pontoon style fenders, wrap around louver grill and hidden headlights this car became an instant classic. Unfortunately the end for the Auburn-Cord-Duesenburg empire was to come only 2 years after the release of the first 810 car.

Please check out all of our beautifully designed  diecast cars of the 1930's we have to offer.

Other cars from this era can also be found on our Franklin Mint Page and our 1:32 scale diecast car page.
