In spite of the great depression the innovation of the automobile moved forward. Our diecast model cars of this period, known by many as the Classic Car era, shows cars that are becoming completely enclosed. Fenders, headlights and running boards were now being more integrated with the body of the car. By the 1930's most of the mechanical technology that is present in the cars of today had been invented. You can see in our diecast cars the changing body style of the earlier 30's cars as they evolve throughout the decade.
Many innovative cars came from this period, perhaps none as revolutionary as the Cord 810 series. With it's bold design of pontoon style fenders, wrap around louver grill and hidden headlights this car became an instant classic. Unfortunately the end for the Auburn-Cord-Duesenburg empire was to come only 2 years after the release of the first 810 car.
