The 1940's was an interesting decade for the automobiles. Before the war innovations such as automatic transmissions (introduced by Oldsmobile) and air conditioning (introduced by Packard) made their way into the market. However as the war found it's way to the United States auto production was halted. On February 9th 1942 the last cars rolled off the production line for the duration of the war. The post war 40's cars started to pave the way for the cars of the 50's.
Our 1940's diecast model cars show how the earlier decade cars still did not have fully integrated fenders but by the end of the decade they were. Also seen for the first time in cars a feature the 50's were to exploit, the tail fins as shown in the 1949 Cadillac Coupe DeVille diecast model car we offer.
Other cars from this era can be found on our Franklin Mint Page and our 1:32 scale diecast car page.
